Larimer County wildfire triggers evacuations in Crystal Lakes area

Authorities in Larimer County on Monday issued mandatory evacuation orders due to a wildfire in the Crystal Lakes area in the foothills west of Fort Collins.

The wildfire has been named the Pearl fire, Larimer County sheriff’s officials said.

Multiple local fire agencies are responding to the fire and air support has been ordered, sheriff’s officials said.

The initially evacuation order issued at 11:55 a.m. covered Crystal Lakes, south of Black Mountain and north of Lake Erie, the Larimer County Sheriff’s Office announced on social media.

At 12:45 p.m., officials extended the evacuation order to include residents in the area of county roads 86 and 170.

And at 1:20 p.m., authorities changed evacuations from voluntary to mandatory for Crystal Lakes residents north of Black Mountain to the Wyoming state line.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
