Socks, the beloved ‘Coors Field Cat,’ is missing

Socks, the beloved black-and-white stray cat and longtime resident of Coors Field, is missing, her volunteer care team said this week.

After more than 10 years of regular Socks sightings around the Denver stadium, volunteers who replenish her food bowl every day have not seen her in four weeks, according to an X account dedicated to the cat.

“Our feeders continue to come daily, but the only signs at her station are licked-clean dishes likely from raccoons,” Socks’ caretakers wrote on Monday.  “For Socks to be completely absent from view for this long is unusual and concerning…”

Socks spent a brief time away from Coors Field in 2021, when she had a tumor removed that was discovered when she was caught and spayed.

One of her neighbors, a Coors Field cat named Smokey, retired from his downtown domain in 2023 after health concerns started cropping up as he aged.

Smokey was adopted by a Denver resident and now enjoys time and cuddles with his people, according to the volunteer caretakers.

Anyone who has seen Socks in the last month can contact her caretakers by messaging them on X through the account @CoorsFieldCat.

“Even a small detail could help us understand her recent movements,” Socks’ care team said. “Thank you to everyone who has cared about her all these years. We’re hoping she’s simply found a new hiding spot – and your sightings could make all the difference!”
