Englewood dog rescue’s license suspended after rabies scare, failed inspections

Colorado’s Commissioner of Agriculture on Friday suspended the license of an Englewood animal rescue that took in a rabies-positive puppy last year, resulting in the forced euthanasia of a dozen dogs. Moms and Mutts Colorado Rescue for Pregnant and Nursing Dogs was ordered to surrender all of the dogs in its care to licensed shelters and rescue organizations. According to the state, after last year’s rabies scare, the rescue in January and February failed to isolate puppies that were suffering from hookworm infections and were exposed to a littermate with rabies symptoms. The dogs were kept in temporary pens near the front of the Englewood facility and were not separated from one another or the pet dogs of rescue workers. Three of the dogs had to be put down in addition to the puppy that ultimately tested negative for rabies. Sprouts Farmers Market to open 34th Colorado location in Aurora

Sprouts Farmers Market is set to open its newest store in Aurora this April. The nearly 23,000-square-foot building, at 405 S. Chambers Rd, will open its doors to customers at 7 a.m. April 18, offering a range of fresh produce and organic and natural foods. “We’re thrilled to be opening our 34th Colorado store here in Aurora,” said Ramon Hernandez, store manager of the Aurora location. “As Colorado’s third-largest city with a flourishing population, Aurora is the perfect community to share Sprouts’ passion for fresh, natural and organic products.” As part of its expansion, Sprouts is hosting in-person hiring events to fill approximately 93 full- and part-time positions across various departments. NASHVILLE — Several of Nathan MacKinnon’s lifelong hockey dreams came true this past week. MacKinnon, along with Cale Makar and Devon Toews, had the opportunity to play for Canada in a best-on-best men’s tournament for the first time at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. He had the chance to play with his childhood idol-turned-friend Sidney Crosby in games that matter for the first time. He also didn’t let down 8-year-old Nathan MacKinnon. “That’s my hero. That’s my guy,” MacKinnon said Saturday a few hours before returning to play with the Colorado Avalanche. “It was really cool. I definitely felt pressure there, too.
